February is a good month to experience Zaragoza beyond the usual sightseeing. This is our ongoing, non-exhaustive list of things to do around the city, based on the events and outings we have followed as a family.
Planning note: event dates, routes, opening hours, and prices can change from year to year. Some details below refer specifically to 2026, so check the official organiser or city listing before making plans.
Carnaval: celebrate, participate, or simply watch
Carnaval is one of the liveliest moments in Zaragoza’s February calendar. It can be a free way to take part in local life: join in if you want to dress up, watch the celebrations, or spend time around the city while the festivities are happening.
Chinese New Year celebrations
In 2026, a Chinese New Year parade took place on February 15 during Carnaval at Parque Delicias. The date and location were specific to that year, but it is worth checking local listings for the next celebration if you will be in Zaragoza in February.

Visit an open-air market
Zaragoza has several open-air markets, and February is often when they begin opening again after the Christmas holiday period. Mercado de las Porches is one place to check, and the city tourism site keeps a broader list of outdoor markets. Opening days and hours vary, so confirm the details before you go.
Catch an American football home game
The local American football season lasts about four months, beginning in January, with one home game per month. In our experience, it has been a free outing. You may need a car: Sunday public transport can be limited when the venue is outside the city, so plan your return trip before you leave.
We share our experience in the video below.
Complete the Roman Walk
A Roman walk is an easy way to spend time outdoors while exploring another layer of Zaragoza’s history. Our short video below gives you a feel for the route and the places we experienced along the way.
See Zaragoza Luces
Zaragoza Luces is another option for an evening out in the city. Check the official visitor information before you go for the current route and practical details.
