Guess what! After four years of living in Spain, I FINALLY completed the process to obtain a driver’s license in Spain, just in time for some SUMMER ROADTRIPS in from our home in Zaragoza, Spain. Over the last four years, we have only traveled to where train, plane, and bus could take, but now we have NEW freedom in our travels!
For now, we are sticking with living in the city center, and only renting a car when we want to go somewhere different, but maybe down the road we will purchase, lease, or subscribe to a car in Spain.

#1 Going east to the beach in Tarragona.
In this video, you will also see the route we took and what rest stops can look like in Spain. We rented a car from the Zaragoza Delicias train station, and then drove almost 3 hours to the east coast. We had located the closest beach to us that we could get to and back in a day, and went there. That was about all of the advanced planning that we made. The beach had free parking, so we only needed money for food and gas.
Roundtrip: approximately 5 hours of driving time.

#2 Going north to the mountains and a swimming hole in Cinco Villas, in Aragon.
In this video, I also share a little bit about the car rental process from the Delicias-Zaragoza Train Station. Although I have my spanish driver’s license, I have to use my valid United States driver’s license in order to rent a car in Spain. Up to this point, I don’t have a current International Driver’s License (IDP), so I rent from agencies, that don’t require it. So far, that is Alamo and Budget.
